The Co-operators $57,000 Contest Giveaway, 2017 (the “Contest”)

No Purchase Necessary. The Contest begins on January 1, 2017 at 12:00:01 a.m. EST and will end on December 31, 2017, at 11:59:59 p.m. EST (the “Contest Closing Date”). This Contest is sponsored by H.B. Group Insurance Management Ltd. administrator of The Co-operators Group Auto and Home Insurance Program (the “Sponsor”). There will be sixty-four (64) random draws for $500 in Cash Prizes during the Contest period. Prizes will be drawn each quarter during the Contest Period as indicated below. Prize One (1) to be held on or around April 17, 2017 for sixteen (16) draws each valued at five hundred dollars ($500), four prizes per region from all eligible entries received in respect of each of the regions set out below from January 1, 2017 at 12:00:00 a.m. EST to March 31, 2017 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST; Prize Two (2) to be held on or around July 12, 2017 for sixteen (16) draws each of five hundred dollars ($500), four prizes per region from all eligible entries received in respect of each of the regions set out below from April 1, 2017 at 12:00:00 a.m. EST to June 30, 2017 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST; Prize Three (3) to be held on or around October 16, 2017 for sixteen (16) draws each of five hundred dollars ($500), four prizes per region from all eligible entries received in respect of each of the regions set out below from July 1, 2017 at 12:00:00 a.m. EST to September 30, 2017 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST; and Prize Four (4) to be held on or around January 15, 2018 for sixteen (16) draws each of five hundred dollars ($500), four prizes per region from all eligible entries received in respect of each of the regions set out below from October 1, 2017 at 12:00:00 a.m. EST to December 31, 2076 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST; There will be five (5) Grand Prize Draws held on or around January 15, 2018, each for five thousand dollars ($5,000) from all eligible entries received from all regions for the period of January 1, 2017 at 12:00:00 a.m. EST to December 31, 2017 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST (the Contest Period).

To enter, call 1-800-387-1963 and obtain a free, no-obligation auto and home insurance quote through an active client sponsored group who is a participant of The Co-operators group auto and home insurance program (Auto Insurance not available in British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan) or complete an online insurance quote via the internet at www.cooperatorsgroupinsurance.ca during the Contest Period and you will be automatically entered. Quotes via the internet are only considered completed when the “Contact Me” button is selected and appropriate information is filled out. Alternatively you may print your name, address and telephone number, along with a 2,000 words or more handwritten essay on insurance protection and mail it in a separate envelope with sufficient postage to the address below.

If you are currently insured with The Co-operators group auto and home insurance program, and you have a current active policy in good standing through a sponsored group, with the exception of policies from the following groups: Assiniboine Credit Union, Buffalo Credit Union, Deloitte and Price Waterhouse Coopers, The Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada (CQCH) and Confédération québécoise des coopératives d'habitation (CQCH) (the “Excluded Groups”), you are automatically entered once into the Grand Prize Draws and each quarterly Cash Gift Prize giveaway. All entries and phone calls must be received by 11:59:59 p.m. EST December 31, 2017 (the “Contest Closing Date”). All entries received by the Contest Closing Date will be eligible for the Grand Prize Draws. Sponsor will not be responsible for late, lost or destroyed entries. Unless otherwise provided for in these Official Rules, all information obtained for this Contest will only be used for the purpose of conducting the Contest.

There will be sixty-four (64) Cash Prizes and five (5) Grand Prizes available to be won for a total of sixty-five (69) prizes available to be won. The combined value of the prizes to be awarded is $57,000.00.

Cash Prize: Each Cash Prize will consist of a cheque valued at five hundred dollars ($500) Canadian. The prize will be issued in the form of a cheque made payable to the winner as his/her name appears on the Declaration and Release Form. Any costs or expenses incurred by the winner in claiming or using cash will be the responsibility of the winner.

Limit of one (1) Cash Prize per person per prize time period during the Contest Period. All Cash Prize winners will be eligible for the Grand Prize.

Grand Prize: The Grand Prizes will consist of five (5) prizes of five thousand dollars ($5,000) Canadian cash. The prize will be issued in the form of a cheque or money order made payable to the winner as his/her name appears on the Declaration and Release Form. Any costs or expenses incurred by the Grand Prize winner in claiming or using the prize will be the responsibility of the winner.

Prizes must be accepted as described in these Official Rules and may not be transferred to another person, substituted for another prize, or exchanged in whole or in part.

Odds of winning the Grand Prize depend on the number of eligible entries received by the Contest Closing Date. Odds of winning a Cash Prize depends on the number of eligible entries received in respect of the applicable contest region during the relevant Contest Period, as provided for in each instance below.

To be eligible for Cash Prizes, entries must be received in the following time frames:

January 1, 2017 at 12:00:00 a.m. EST to March 31, 2017 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST (the “Cash Prize 1 Time Period”);

April 1, 2017 at 12:00:00 a.m. EST to June 30, 2017 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST (the “Cash Prize 2 Time Period”);

July 1, 2017 at 12:00:00 a.m. EST to September 30, 2017 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST (the “Cash Prize 3 Time Period”);

October 1, 2017 at 12:00:00 a.m. EST to December 31, 2017 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST (the “Cash Prize 4 Time Period”).


The Cash Prizes will be allocated according to region as follows: West region (including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, Nunavut and Northwest Territories); Ontario region, Quebec region; and East region (including New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador). There are sixty-four (64) Cash Prize amounts to be drawn in the accordance with the following:

In order to win either the Grand Prize or a Quarterly Cash Prize, the selected entrants will be contacted by mail, email, telephone and/or courier, who must each correctly answer a mathematical skill testing question without assistance of any kind whether mechanical or otherwise and must be eligible according to the Official Rules. In the event a selected entrant cannot be contacted within 21 days of the draw, another random draw will be conducted by the independent judges. All winners will be required to sign a Declaration and Liability Release form provided by The Co operators releasing the Sponsor and its advertising and promotional agencies and the contest judging organization from all liability. The completed Declaration and Liability Release must be returned to The Co operators within seven (7) days following the selected entrant’s receipt of such Release form, unless The Co operators specifies another return date, or the prize may be forfeited.

To be eligible for a prize, an entrant must, both during the Contest Period and on the date of the draw, be an employee or a member of an organization that is an active participant of The Co operators group auto and home insurance program and which organization is not one of the Excluded Groups (a “Participating Group”) and the entrant must remain a member of the same Participating Group through the Contest Period and on the date of the draw.

The Contest is open to all legal residents of Canada who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence except for (a) employees (and persons with whom they are domiciled) of the Sponsor, their advertising and promotional agencies and the independent contest judging organization; and (b) members and/or employees (and persons with whom they are domiciled) of the Excluded Groups. This contest is subject to all applicable Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws and regulations. All decisions of the independent contest judging organization are final and the Sponsor and judging organization shall not be held responsible for any accident, negligence, printing, administrative or other errors that may arise or occur in connection with the contest. The Sponsor reserves the right to modify, amend or terminate this contest with no obligation or liability, subject to applicable law and the consent of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux. The Sponsor reserves the right to ensure each winner is an active employee/member of a Participating Group, and that winners continue to be entitled to receive group rates through belonging to the same Participating Group throughout the aforementioned contest periods and at the time a winner is drawn. If a winner is not an active employee or member, The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify the winner.

Prizes must be accepted as awarded, are non-refundable and non-transferable. The Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected entrant. By entering this Contest, the entrants consent to the use of their name, city of residence, video image, and/or photograph in any related publicity or Internet posting without compensation or notification.

For residents of Quebec, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the board only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, stolen, misdirected, mutilated, illegible or postage due entries. All entries become the property of Sponsor, which assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged or misdirected entries or for any failure of the website during the promotional period, for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from playing or down loading any material in the promotion. Sponsor reserves the right; in its sole discretion to cancel or suspend the online portion of this contest should a virus, bug or other cause beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, mechanically reproduced, mutilated, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way. Entrants agree to abide by the Contest Rules and the decisions of the independent judging panel, which are final. The Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with or attempts to tamper with the entry process. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, THE SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.

In the event of a dispute, entries made by Internet will be declared made by the Authorized Account Holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. “Authorized Account Holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g. business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.

Unless otherwise specified, this Contest is governed by the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein, and is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations.
