Will your next car be new or used?

This season, the open road awaits! Need a new set of wheels for your next road trip? Here are a few things to think about before you start cruising your car dealerships.

Make a list of which features you really need, and which are nice-to-haves.

While a newer model may have a few more extras, one that’s one or two years older may suit your needs just as well, and cost you a lot less. Plus, adding lots of options to a new car will drive the final price much higher than what’s on the sticker.

What’s your budget?

Some used cars will cost you less to buy now, but may cost you more in repairs and maintenance. Others depreciate so little that one year’s model doesn’t cost much less than the previous year’s. Also, you may be eligible for a good financing deal on a new car to help offset the cost.

Do your homework.

Get to know the market and study consumer reports to find out which models depreciate faster than others, which have known safety or performance issues, and which have been recalled.

How much coverage will you need?

Remember that a new car will generally cost more to insure than a used one. We can help you choose your options to find the coverage that’s right for you.
