All home insurance policies from The Co-operators include access to a free around-the-clock assistance service called Group Home Assist.

Group Home Assist is completely confidential. And using it will not affect your insurance record in any way.

Home care availability* (at your residence)

After a dependent has been hospitalized or ill at home for a minimum of two days this service puts you in touch with:

  • Childcare/Eldercare — Experienced care specialists look after children/seniors for up to 10 hours a day over three consecutive days (including nights), three times a year.
  • Nursing Care — Available on a doctor's written recommendation up to a maximum of 25 hours over five consecutive days, three times a year.
  • Housekeeping — Available up to a maximum of 20 hours over five consecutive days, three times a year, including light-duty chores such as meal preparation, laundry, dishes, dusting, etc.

Home repair referral service

Contact qualified, licensed and reputable home repair specialists (unlimited access).

Health care information

Talk in confidence to experienced health care professionals about all types of health-related issues.

Moral assistance

Following a traumatic event (e.g., job loss, marital problems, financial hardship), consult with helpful professionals for advice, moral support and referrals to special assistance organizations.

Legal assistance (for Quebec residents only)

For answers to questions regarding family law, tax law, labour law and workers' rights, speak with a member of the Quebec Bar (unlimited phone consultations; service is available Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.).

*Notes:

  • Pre-existing and/or chronic conditions are not covered.
  • This service is an emergency service until long-term care is arranged.
  • The Co-operators will determine your needs based on an internal evaluation of your situation.
  • All services will be rendered only at the insured residence.
  • This service cannot be used as a reason for early discharge from hospital.
  • Insured must be hospitalized for a minimum of two days to qualify.
  • Childcare/eldercare available as a result of recent hospitalization and/or if dependent is ill for minimum of two days.
  • Nursing care and housekeeping services available only as a result of recent hospitalization.

This is not an emergency service and does not replace in any event your regular physician.

All consultations occur via phone. This information must be within the Canadian jurisdiction and does not include areas of the law related to business, criminal activity, insurance or dispute with The Co-operators, one of our subsidiaries or agents.
